Biography
Jean-Pierre Grandjean advises and represents clients in commercial litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
He is also an arbitrator and a mediator.
Jean-Pierre Grandjean appears among the leading litigators in France in both French and international legal directory rankings. He is also highly recognized for his experience in arbitration and mediation.
His practice focuses on commercial and financial litigation, M&A disputes, company or shareholder agreement disputes (including joint subsidiaries and cooperation agreements), contractual and tort liability, distribution law, litigation involving anti-competitive practices, product liability, and collective actions.
He is a former member of the Paris Bar Council (2015-2018), Secretary of the Conflict of Interest Commission (2016) and the Legal Privilege Commission (2017). In particular, he produced two reports that led to establishing certain ethical recommendations for internal investigations conducted by lawyers in France.
He is a member and former board member of Droit & Procédure (Law & Procedure Association) and the French Association for Arbitration (AFA). He is a member of Droit & Commerce (Law & Business Association), the French Committee on Private International Law and the French Arbitration Committee of the ICC. He is an expert within Club des Juristes.
Jean-Pierre is the author of publications in contract law, arbitration law, and procedural law. He regularly speaks at conferences and seminars.
Before founding Grandjean Avocats, Jean-Pierre Grandjean was a partner at the French law firm Bredin Prat from 1988 to 2002. He was then head of the Litigation Practice Group at Clifford Chance in Paris, from 2002 to 2019, and co-head of the Arbitration Practice Group.
- Jean-Pierre is a lecturer at the Sciences Po law school (Postgraduate degree in Economic Law – Litigation and Arbitration) and at Université Paris-Saclay (Master in Arbitration and International Business Law – MACI).
- He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Paris Bar School (EFB) and head teacher of commercial litigation at the EFB. In 2017 and 2018, he was a member of the National Commission for the Bar Entrance Examination (CRFPA)
